Foals need to have their own deworming schedule starting at 4 weeks of age and repeating every 30 days for the first year of life. After the first year, they then can be put on an adult deworming schedule. This schedule should be based on a rotating schedule, alternating febendazole, pyrantel pamoate, and ivermectin plus praziquantel.
I personally like to start with pyrantel pamoate the first month, febendazole the second, and then ivermectin praziquantel the third. I then repeat this schedule for the following three months, and then I go ahead and start rotating on a two-month interval just like an adult horse.
